CRUX, North America's largest LGBTQIA climbing organization, invites you to our new monthly second Wednesday event! Heel hook, mantle, and gaston with other queer climbers and (bat)hang out afterwards for food and beverages.
Need a lead partner? We got you. Boulder all day everyday? We're here for it. Still new to it all? No problem. Get introduced to the wider LGBTQIA climbing community through CRUX!
Check in with the front desk at Brooklyn Boulders Gowanus. You will need to fill out their Personal Responsibility Code first. (You may do so ahead of time here:
The entrance is flat with a ramp to check-in and the climbing area.
There is a single occupancy, non-gendered restroom to the left of the check-in desk. There are gendered lockerrooms with restroom facilities (one with urinals and one without) towards the back. Bring a lock for the open-space lockers.
First-time BKB climbers get a special $15 day pass with gear-included. Other LGBTQ+ climbers are $20 for a day pass. During check-in, let the desk staff know you are here for the CRUX event or show your CRUX membership card.
A CRUX event host will be in an area full of LGBTQIA flags. BKB staff will drop you off there after your facility intro if you are new, or will direct you on where to find us if you have been there before. Hosts will be wearing CRUX t-shirts, and/or wearing the rainbow-colored CRUX nametags on their harnesses.
Climbing from 7:00–9:30(ish) PM. There will be a community meeting for group announcements around 7:15 PM once most attendees have arrived.
Food, drink, socializing after 9:30 PM – After climbing a group heads to a nearby restaurant/bar for dinner, drinks, and merriment. We'll announce the location at the meeting, but if you miss announcements, just check with one of the hosts to find out the post-climbing game plan.
We're going to have a ton of fun!
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
No. However, minors are REQUIRED to have their Personal Responsibility Code forms signed and initialed by a parent or legal guardian (preferably the one accompanying them to BKB).
I'm part of an organization that would like to bring a group. Can we all register?
