CRUX LGBTQ Climbing - 1st Fridays @The Cliffs Newbie Night

Hey Climber! 
Every month on the First Friday, CRUX meets up at The Cliffs LIC to climb, then grab food and beverages nearby. 
If it's your first time, don't worry! We'll help you climb your first walls! We'll give you a little primer on top roping and bouldering! It'll be great! If you're not new to climbing, don't worry! We'll put you up more walls, and boulder with you! It'll be great... sensing a theme yet? 

Venue: The Cliffs LIC

Check in with the front desk at The Cliffs LIC. You will need to fill out a waiver first. (You may do so ahead of time here: https://lic.thecliffsclimbing.com/... click WAIVER on the upper right.)

Accessibility

The main climbing area is on the ground floor. The upstairs bouldering and workout areas have stairs.

Changing Rooms & Lockers

There are gendered lockerrooms with restrooms. Bring your own lock for valuables or you can rent them from the front desk. Cubbyholes for stashing nonvaluables are throughout the climbing areas. A non-gendered changing room is located in the retail merchandising section.

Cost

$25 for a facility day pass (first-timers at the Cliffs get gear rental included in the day pass cost). Tell them that you're here for the CRUX event.

For existing CRUX members, just show your CRUX membership card to The Cliffs staff to get the day pass discount.

If you're already a Cliffs member, just scan your Cliffs membership card or use a punch card. There are no additonal costs to attend our event.

Climb Time

CRUX event hosts will be milling about just right of the front desk near the merchandise area starting around 6:55 PM. You should see a CRUX banner and rainbow flags. Hosts will be wearing navy blue and yellow CRUX t-shirts, and/or wearing the rainbow-colored CRUX nametags on their harnesses.

Climbing from 7:00 – 9:45(ish) PM. There will be a short break around 8:20 PM for stretches and group announcements.

Food, drink, socializing after 9:45 PM – After climbing a group heads to a nearby restaurant/bar for dinner, drinks, and merriment. We'll announce the location at the break, but if you miss announcements, just check with one of the hosts to find out the post-climbing game plan.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

No. However, Friday evenings tend to be crowded and is not the best time for small children new to a dynamic event space.

I'm part of an organization that would like to bring a group. Can we all register?

Please contact info@climbcrux.org with info about your group before registering. This gives us an opportunity to ensure we can accomodate everyone.
