Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Basic Course (2-day training)
PLEASE NOTE: Limited or no teacher subs available on: Sept. 19 & 20, Dec. 16 & 17, Mar. 16 & 17, May 28 & 29. PURPOSE - This crisis prevention and intervention program, developed by the International Crisis Prevention Institute, will assist you in gaining skills and confidence necessary to help de-escalate and control crisis situations. Upon completion of the BASIC COURSE, each participant will receive a certification card valid for two years. A 1-day RECERTIFICATION COURSE is required every two years to maintain active status. WHO SHOULD ATTEND - YOU MUST BE A CVESD EMPLOYEE TO ATTEND. It is highly recommended to attend as site teams, composed of at least 3-5 people per team. Site administrators, general education teachers, psychologists, instructional assistants, student attendants, bus drivers, and other members of site-level student response teams are strongly encouraged to participate. Staff who cannot perform physical maneuvers for medical reasons should communicate with the trainers; those individuals will receive a partial certificate. Space is limited, so plese register ASAP. DRESS: Dress casually in comfortable clothing, closed shoes, no jewelry. Please note: Only tea, coffee and tap water will be available. SUBSTITUTE: School sites arrange substitutes for all staff and assume cost. After authorization from site admin, if you need a substitute, contact the SubDesk with site coder and let them know it is for CPI Training.
