Session Description:
Get ready to hack creativity and innovation as we explore how to fake-it-til-you-become-it. In other words, we will explore specific behaviors of creators and innovators and then get started practicing them in a variety of fun and illustrative examples embedded into the workshop process.
Explore Creativity and Innovation at all levels. Learn about the Makers Movement, Maker Spaces, traits of creators and innovators as well as how to encourage, teach, assess and create the conditions to enable creativity and innovation totake root.
Collaborate with others to tackle and share your solutions to a relevant design challenge, using Design Thinking, focused on increasing creativity and innovation with ourselves and our students. You’ll also walk out the door equipped with new tools, strategies, protocols, processes, tons of free resources as well as newly-developed solutions to use beyond the workshop.
You’ll complete and share a key design challenge to help you progress along the creative spectrum. You’ll also walk out the door equipped with new tools and resources as well as with a new creative design challenge to be used with your students beyond the workshop.
Deliverable: Participants will walk out the door with a solution to their workshop design challenge that can be used in their classroom with students.
Printed Materials: Participants will receive a free printed book and workshop companion entitled: Teaching and Assessing 21st Century Competencies.
Location: Event will be held in Seattle, WA - at West Seattle High School.
