INFORMATION SESSION NOVEMBER 30th - 6p.m.

WINTER TRAINING APPROACHING - JANUARY 18th- FEBRUARY 16th

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)/ Prince George's County, Inc. is a volunteer-based organization that partners with the juvenile court to improve the lives of abused and neglected children living in foster care. In about 12 hours per month, CASA volunteers spend time with a child in foster care and advocate for his or her proper care and placement in a safe, permanent home.

If you are ready to make the next step to becoming a voice for a child in foster care, complete the online application to start your screening process.

For those interested in volunteering and becoming a CASA, 37 hours of training is provided. The training contains a total of 8 required classes and one day of Courtroom Observation (8:30 am - 4:00 pm) which will be offered during the training cycle. A light meal will be served at each training. Once you complete training, you personally decide on the dates and times you spend meeting with your child and working on their behalf.

Our next training session will be an evening training this fall from January 18th to February 16th. Training days are Mondays and Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm.

We can’t wait to receive your volunteer application and begin your interview process to volunteer with us. Please be aware that you must meet certain minimum criteria to be considered (see below).

Minimum Criteria:

Must be at least 21 years of age or older
Ability to pass background screening Criminal Background Check; Driving Record Check; Child Abuse Registry Check; Social Security Number verification; National Sex Offender Registry; Reference Checks (3)
Ability to attend 37-hour pre-service training
One year or one case commitment to the program
Ability to commit 10-15 hours per month to case, including visiting the child at least twice per month and regular meetings with Case Supervisor
Acceptance of a case assignment after completion of pre-service training.
PLEASE EMAIL VOLUNTEER@PGCASA.ORG OR CALL 301-209-0491 to RSVP to our information session!
