A larger-than-life figure in the design community with a client list to match, Paula Scher turned her first major project as a partner at Pentagram into a formative twenty-five-year relationship with the Public Theater in New York.
Join Scher and Ellen Lupton, curator of contemporary design at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, for a discussion about Scher’s book, Paula Scher: Twenty-Five Years at the Public, A Love Story, which gives a behind-the-scenes account of her relationship with the theater, chronicling a quarter-century of brand and identity development and an evolving creative process.
A book signing follows the event.
“The Public is a great theater because its mission is great: to make the culture belong to everyone.... Paula has made that mission visible—through typography and ink and colors and graphics. If we know who we are, if the world knows who the Public is, it is in large part because Paula has shown us what we look like.”
