Community scale compost sites like the one hosted by LES Ecology center rely on volunteers to help divert local residents' food scraps from landfills and continue to build awareness about composting. Volunteers on this site make the world a better place and often get great exercise along the way. Tasks include but are not limited to: chopping/raking/inspecting food scraps to be composted, sifting finished compost, compost pile maintenance, sweeping, site maintenance and much more.
Please arrive on time with shoes and clothes to work outside as well as a water bottle for personal hydration. Gloves, tools, and any other necessary protective gear will be provided. Contact Xander with any questions or concerns xander@lesecologycenter.org or 212-477-4022.
This is for individual sign-up ONLY. To arrange for a separate large, private, or corporate volunteer opportunity, please email Antonio at
