CERT (Community Emergency Response Training) training academies are offered in the communities served by the Santa Clara County Fire Department and rotate throughout the year.
Some of the skills taught include personal preparedness, organizing resources, basic medical operations, basic search and rescue, how to use a fire extinguisher and basic damage assessment.
This training course is open to individuals who live or work within the communities served by Santa Clara County Fire Department: Cupertino, Campbell, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and the unincorporated surrounding areas.
If you are interested in attending CERT and do not live or work in the jurisdictions served by the Santa Clara County Fire Department you can attend any of the CERT classes served by SCCFD, however, preference will be given to those who reside in any of the seven (7) SCCFD jurisdictions. Age requirement: Over 18 or in the range of 15 to less than 18 years old with parent or guardian in the academy with you as a student.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided: hard hat, gloves, eye protection, and N95 mask
