Come on down to sing!

Event ended

Beginners Welcomed! Do you like to sing? Can you carry a tune? Then read on.

The Harbormen are a men's chorus that sings four part harmony in the a cappella style. Our aim is to be recognized as an excellent musical organization. We emphasize quality singing, community involvement, great shows and good fellowship. We meet every Monday evening at the Unitarian Fellowship Hall located at 380 Nicolls Road in Stony Brook, New York at 7:30 PM.

We cater to singers of all abilities and have several ways for our members to learn the music. The traditional method is through sheet music. Each member is provided a copy of our repertoire and when we introduce a new song we "read" the sheet music together as a group, led by our director. Did you know that many of our members can't read sheet music? Never fear! We are provided "learning tracks" through our "members only" website or on a CD. There is a track for each voice part (lead, tenor, baritone & bass) so that you can adjust the balance to hear just your part, all four parts, or the three other parts only. This allows you to develop from learning just your part to going "solo" by singing your part against the other three voices as if you were in a quartet. Of course we build on these learning methods each Monday night as our Director leads us through several songs improving upon what we have independently learned.

Interested? Call Dave Lance at[masked] or send an e-mail to, [masked], and we'll get in touch with you.
