Federal agencies and foundations are increasingly focusing on establishing interdisciplinary research centers at universities, particularly in STEM fields. It is important for faculty to start planning for these opportunities well in advance, as they take much more thought, time, and collaboration than is generally needed for individual research projects.
This information session will provide faculty with insights on the key characteristics of a research center, why and when to pursue such a funding mechanism, and how early planning and team-building can help you prepare for a center. The session will culminate in an interactive discussion with a panel of faculty who have research center experience.
This event is being organized by the Berkeley Research Development Office (BRDO, a unit of VCRO), with remarks by Randy Katz, Vice Chancellor for Research.
Space will be limited, so register now (faculty only, please).
Refreshments will be served. There will be time for networking and follow-up conversations after the presentation and panel discussions have concluded.
Please contact bdro@berkeley.edu with any questions.
