Local secondary and post-secondary math instructors are invited to talk with University Faculty, representatives from Idaho Regional Mathematics Centers, State Department of Education, and State Board of Education about existing practices, outcomes, and issues surrounding math transitions in Idaho education.
Participants may attend either a morning or afternoon session face-to-face, via Zoom, or opt to watch a recording following the event. Lunch will be provided between sessions, please register to RSVP.
Mathematics Success (60 mins)
What does success look like for Idaho mathematics instructors? What do we prioritize? How do we see it in classrooms and students?
Teaching Methods (20 mins)
What strategies/systems are math instructors using to promote success? What’s working? What are the constraints?
Placement (20 mins)
What processes are math programs using to place students in courses? What’s working? Where are areas for improvement?
Course Taking Patterns and Pathways (20 mins)
What mathematics courses are students taking? How can we offer students multiple pathways to success?
