Chef's Table: What Santa Wants
Made the Naughty List? Been Nice all year?
No matter this event is for the Santa inside us all.
If you celebrate Christmas you've probably grown accustomed to the cup of milk and chocolate chip cookies put out for Santa. These sweet treats are meant to motivate for the remainder of deliveries on Santa's whirlwind route. This Chef's Table is an homage to that tradition with a bit of a twist.
Milk punch was originally developed in the 18th century to as a preservation technique. The flavorful, silky smooth, crystal clear beverage was traditionally made with brandy, but we're in Kentucky after all. Lead Bartender Jeremy Salmon will feature Kentucky's famous spirit Bourbon and go through the process of creating this classic cocktail that was a favorite of many historical figures including Benjamin Franklin. We posit that after a hard night's work delivering presents across the world Santa might want something with a little more kick to it than a glass of milk at every stop.
Staying true to the tradition we'll be pairing this milk punch with Executive Chef Richard Sible's Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe and a favorite from his childhood, Buckeyes. Additionally you'll get to decorate and take home your own festive sugar cookies, however many you don't end up eating.
