The purpose of Charleston County's Annual Earth Day Festival is to educate Lowcountry residents about environmental issues in a celebratory atmosphere. The festival is a hands-on science-based interactive experience, designed to encourage participants of all ages to develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues. Earth Day was established in 1970 and is now celebrated by a half-billion people around the world. We are doing our part locally by celebrating with families, students, and environmental partners. Our theme this year is "Recycle Right."

Is anyone selling local honey this year?
Andrew Sprague
-- 15/04/2017 19:18
We didn't see any. But then we weren't looking either. It was more local "services" then goods.
Beverly Barfield
-- 15/04/2017 19:18
Yeah that's what we came to too. And we missed the bee expo too. Next stop - farmers market!
Andrew Sprague

2 Days until Earth Day!! A few notes re. the event - shuttles will be running to transport attendees from the parking lot at the corner of Noisette Blvd. & McMillan Ave to the park entrance. Parking is also available closer to the park along Shipbuilding Way. Golf carts will also be running to transport guests that need assistance. Feel free to flag one down a golf cart if needed. We recommend bringing reusable containers for water as free drinking water will be available located near the pavilion. #ChsEarthDay

The theme of this year is "recycle right"? How do we expect most Summerville residents even recycle at all if there's no recycling pickup (except for paper)?

Come by our booth and help build a model transit system for the Lowcountry. We've now done this over 100 times and we've learned a lot about what people want and where they believe it needs to go. It's fun as well. Best Friends of Lowcountry Transit.
