L. D’Shawn Wright is an international speaker, television talk show host on In The Ring, author, champion bodybuilder, community leader, renowned personal trainer and award winning CEO. After years of working as a trainer at various gyms, in 2009 D’Shawn was blessed with the opportunity to start BBD The Movement. In ten years Body By D Gym and Fitness Center has gone from its original 75 members to over 400 current members, has more than doubled in square footage and has opened a second location, BBD the Movement 24:7, in Gloucester, Virginia. Body By D has won the Coastal Virginia Magazine Reader’s Choice Award for Best Gym in the area several times. D’Shawn has become a serial entrepreneur, starting Primetime Wrestling Alliance, a school that trains people to become professional wrestlers as well as L. D’Shawn Wright Enterprises focusing on his passion of motivational speaking, and lastly opening The Wright Cuts Family Barber Shop and Salon, a family barber shop and salon with a second location recently opening in Newport News. Additionally, D'Shawn is a member of the Gloucester Courthouse Players and made history as the first African American male to have the lead acting role since the organizations inception in 1980.
D’Shawn is varied in his accomplishments. He was awarded the Rapid Results Winner Award from Bally’s Total Fitness, was a Peninsula Sports Club Table of Champions recipient, the Rashad Cartwright Entrepreneurship Excellence Award recipient, was 2014 Runner-up in the Hampton Roads Celebrity Giant Fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis, was awarded the 2015 York County Citizen Hero Award, and the York County 2019 Small Business of the Year Award, and was most recently titled 2019 NPC Virginia Classic Overall Bodybuilding Champion.
D’Shawn has helped 27 student athletes obtain athletic scholarships ranging from Iowa University to VMI. He has also trained OCB Bikini Pro competitors, national prep champions, pro baseball players, pro football players, collegiate All-Americans, Miss Virginia Pageant Winners, World Champion Race Car Drivers and bodybuilding champions.
