CEU Workshop - Moral Injury

This workshop will address the current definition of moral injury and how more aspects of it are referenced in DSM-5 under PTSD Diagnosis. It will provide an overview of the similarities and differences between moral injury and PTSD, including how each present. It will explore how each of us can help those who are dealing with this critical issue. Presenter: John L. Wilson, a disabled veteran, was appointed as the Community & Faith Based Partner Coordinator in April 2019. He is officed at the Mental Health Department of the Texas Veterans Commission. He is working collaboratively with community and faith-based partners across the state to ensure veterans and their families are informed about and make greater use of the behavioral health services that are available to them. A Texas native, Mr. Wilson achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel prior to retiring from the Air Force with 32 years of service. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts in 1974 from Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, Texas, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration in 1988 from Troy University, Troy, Ala. His military career assignments include deployments to Iraq and Bosnia. His civilian career includes positions with Disabled American Veterans as Assistant Legislative Director, and the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs as the Claims Office Manager and then as the Veterans Mental Health Programs Administrator. Mr. Wilson and his wife, Belle, reside in Cedar Park, Texas.
