Description The class focuses on hand-building techniques including pinch, coil and slab construction, as well as surface treatment and glazing. Open to all levels of experience. Students can create functional items such as vases, soap dishes and teacups, as well as sculptures including portrait heads and whimsical animals. Dream something up and try it out in the studio! Experienced potters may use studio's electric wheels to pursue independent projects. $25 materials fee due to instructor first day of class. Registration for Monday's class includes studio time on most Fridays from 9:30-11:30 am. No class on 11/25. Hazardous Materials: Hands and clothes should be washed after using clay and glazes. All glazes are non-toxic and food safe. Fettling knives and other tools with sharp edges or points such as skewers and cutters are used in the class.
