Cautious Clay (birth name Josh Karpeh) was born in Cleveland (Ohio) and is a producer, singer, and songwriter. He began his musical journey by playing the flute and saxophone and in college, he took up music production.
His musical style is best described as a blend of indie electronic (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock with an affinity for electronic music, using samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, and computer programs), alternative R&B, and pop.
