One Breath for Balance with John Sparks
How to shift from reaction to response in less than 5 seconds
“When You Own Your Breath, Nobody Can Steal Your Peace”
Time Magazine has called unmanaged stress "America's number one health problem" while The American Institute of Stress reports that 75 to 90% of all visits to primary care physicians are stress related. Does it sound like we could use some help?
Over the years, experts have given us all kinds of ways to cope with this growing dilemma, yet things only appear to be getting worse. Could it be that the solution is right under our noses?
Numerous studies have shown that focused breathing, also known as pranayama, relieves symptoms of anxiety, violent mood swings, depression, and more. It increases focus and calmness while lowering blood pressure and strengthening the immune system all at once. According to the Heartmath Institute, it also reduces the chances of cancer by as much as 400%. In fact, it is so powerful that Forbes Magazine proclaimed “focused breathing may be the most potent tool we have to prevent our brains from keeping us in a state of stress.”
Most students of yoga are familiar with focused breathing since its origins come from India as part of the yogic tradition. Yet, many are unaware of exactly how important it can be to make a daily routine of it all by itself. You don't need a mat, special clothing, or even a special place to do it. You don't even need to be a student of yoga. All you need is 10 minutes. Anyone can do it almost anywhere.
One Breath for Balance combines the science of neuroplasticity (the brain's ability to grow and reorganize itself) along with focused breathing to enhance every aspect of your life. This includes a total rebalancing of your autonomic nervous system while attaining new skills for improving health and handling stress on all levels.
