Floral designers and authors of the bestselling Flower Color Guide, Michael and Darroch Putnam have built a reputation for their romantic, dramatic designs and installations with color as the guiding principle. They will discuss and demonstrate their floral vision and artistic process, using color to create their masterful designs with clients including Vogue, Dior, and for Gwyneth Paltrow.

Following the program, Putnam and Putnam will be signing copies of their book, “Flower Color Guide”. Books can be purchased as a $25 add on to your ticket. They will also be available for purchase in the de Young bookstore.

This program features a 1 ½ hour flower arranging presentation and conversation with Michael and Darroch Putnam. At the conclusion of the presentation, guests will have the opportunity to win one of Putnam created bouquets through a raffle.

Each program ticket includes untimed entry to Bouquets to Art 2020 and Judy Chicago: A Retrospective. Tickets do not include entry to Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving.

More about Putnam and Putnam

Putnam & Putnam was founded in 2014 by NYC’s preeminent floral designer Michael Putnam and partner Darroch Putnam. Their namesake brand is the go-to for discerning clients, as they offer flowers specially tailored for every occasion: editorial, weddings, fashion presentations and more.

Both artists in their own right, Darroch, a photographer by trade, and Michael, a formally trained interior designer, have built a global reputation for their romantic, dramatic designs and installations using color as their guiding principle. Their elegant and ethereal style has garnered the attention of clients like tastemakers Gwyneth Paltrow, Adam Lippes, Brandon Maxwell, and Jason Wu, and brands like Bergdorf Goodman, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

Darroch and Michael are committed to bettering their communities from the reinvigoration of the Flower District, to supporting LGBTQ causes. They are proud to support the Ali Forney Center in NYC to help protect LGBTQ youth from homelessness and empower them with the tools needed to live independently. Most recently, the duo launched a podcast called Unicorns Do Exist with weekly interviews celebrating their creative contemporaries.
