Botanical Distillation Workshop

Catland co-owner Melissa Madara is pleased to present an immersive, hands-on introduction to botanical distillation!

Hydrosols, essential oils, and spagyrics- all useful tools for the herbalist, perfumer, and witch to be acquainted with. While the preparation of these applications can seem daunting, they unlock the door to exploring the truly refined essences of plants and flowers.

In this lecture, students will encounter these preparations hands on, and watch a live, detailed demonstration of the distillation process, accompanied by an in-depth lecture. Students will also participate in the creation of unique, just-for-this-class botanicals- one hydrosol mist and one spagyric extract- which they will be able to bottle and take home.

ABOUT THE HOST

Melissa Madara is a co-owner at Catland, a folk witch and an herbalist. Her work deals with the healing power of storytelling, divination, and mastery of the natural world. She is a teacher at Catland Books and numerous other metaphysical spaces in NYC, and has a background in Croatian, American folk, and Chaos Magic traditions.
