Black Men Read (BMR) - Kids Club

On the fourth Saturday of each month at 11am, stop by Black Stone Bookstore and Cultural Center in Ypsilanti, MI with your K-2nd grade youth for our Kids Club!

BMR (Black Men Read) is an homage to the history of the storytelling among African people. We have gathered a group of committed men who are available to read to children in school and at area bookstores. Black Men Read is a bridge- a tool for community connection between our beloved children and the pillars of our communites.

Goals of BMR:

Uplift the voices of the African American men in Ypsi/Ann Arbor by creating a space for them to read to other children- primarily children of color.

To harness the collective power of the village's commitment to children by reading culturally relevant stories to them that reflect our heritage and powerful history.
