Black Girls Code and Microsoft: Code your own video game with MakeCode Arcade
This free, 2-hour introductory coding workshop is an engaging interactive way for young women ages 10-13 to understand more about how the opportunities computer science and coding open up for them. They will meet a local woman who works in technology; and find out that a successful career in technology is within their reach. During the hands on activity Code your own video game with MakeCode Arcade, students will use block coding to create a video game with MakeCode Arcade. Students learn fundamental game and coding concepts—like sprites, variables, and coordinates—and use their new skills to create and customize a playable game.
By the end of the workshop, students will have:
* Learned and used key game design and coding concepts
* Shared their games with a partner for inspiration
* Published their game via URL so they can continue to play and develop it after the workshop
Don’t miss this opportunity to meet new role models, get inspired by the pros, and get a hands-on introduction to the world of coding.
