Did you know that there is a special birthstone associated with every month of the year? Legend has it that wearing a stone during its associated month provides healing powers. The concept of birthstones dates back thousands of years. Birthstones are mentioned in the Bible, and were worn by ancient Egyptians, Incas, Aztecs, and Romans. While the exact stones have varied over time and cultures, the modern definition of birthstones came about in 1912 when the American National Association of Jewelers developed a standard list.
