Why Big Data Can Make a Big Impact on Your Mission

Over the last year, Eric Swanson has been leading some big churches through accelerator courses on leveraging data and analytics to fulfill their mission. We are thrilled to welcome him back to Evansville to help us do the same.

There are just five things every church must do to grow and thrive.Attract is simply making people aware that your church exists. (Even for churches that eschew the label “Attractional Church” still take missional actions they hope will attract people to their church).Get is about getting people in the door for the first time—whether for a weekend service or a special event.Keep is about our ability to get people back a second or third time. (People who attend a church just three times have a 60% propensity to make that church their home church). The cost of retention is much cheaper than the cost of acquisition. Keeping is about closing the back door.Grow is about engaging people in your growth model whatever that might be. For many churches the critical growth decision is to be part of a small group and to serve. Multiply is about people who multiply the mission of the church through their leading, giving, serving, inviting, evangelism, discipling and advocacy of the church. The multipliers play a critical role in attracting, getting, keeping, growing and even multiplying other people. We usually call these congregants “engaged.”

He's also going to help us review some of the core ideas he launched into the Church of Evansville in 2016, like whole Church, whole Gospel, whole person, and whole city. If you or someone on your team missed those first One Community One Church conversations, invite them!
