Beards & Beers At The Pilot House

The first inaugural Beard & Mustache competition put on by The Together We Can Campaign and The Captain Pabst Pilot House in association with the Brew City Beard Alliance Club and The Mad Viking Beard Club! The event will benefit The Semper Fi Fund!

The Semper Fi Fund is one of America's highest rated charities, and they are dedicated to providing urgently needed resources and support for combat wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.

Come and party with us at the historic Pabst Brewery in beautiful downtown Milwaukee! Newly re-branded as the Captain Pabst Pilot House this events unique tap flavors and new liquor offerings along with a first of its kind beard comp that will rock Milwaukee to it core, is sure to be a memorable event. TICKET PRICES

This is a private event so we will have 3 levels of tickets available.

$25 SPECTATOR TICKET: Access to all the weekends Events and includes the Brewery Tour!

$35 COMPETITORS TICKET: Access to all the weekends events, can compete in multiple categories and includes the Brewery Tour!

$45 VIP ALL ACCESS TICKET (LIMITED TO 100): Not only do you get access to all the weekends events, compete in multiple categories and take the Brewery Tour but you will also have access to the VIP loft where you can over look the Beautiful Pilot House and view all the Entertainment and Competition!

The beard competition will consist of 14 categories & starts at noon with the registration and FHL Check in. Registration lasts until 2pm Comp starts at 2:30pm. You need a spectator ticket or a competition ticket to participate in or watch the comp. Your ticket also pays for you to get in for the rest of the weekend and the brewery tour is included in your ticket price!

This comp will be put on with the FHL (Facial Hair League) app, so judges can vote as well as the crowd electronically via their personal cell phones. Just download the app in your app store.

Beard & Moustache Comp Category Descriptions and Guidelines:

Ladies’ Fake Realistic

Attention to detail and realism is the name of the game in this category. Anything can be used to craft the facial hair – as long as it looks like it should belong on a man’s face.

Ladies’ Fake Creative

Glue, string, yarn, action figures, Legos… pretty much anything goes if you can make it in the shape of a beard, moustache, sideburns, chops, etc. Get fantastical with it! Full costumes that complement the facial hair are encouraged also!

Natural Mustache

The natural mustache is facial hair that rests on the upper lip but does not grow more than 1.5 cm past the ends of the upper lip. The length of the mustache CAN span past the ends of the wearer’s mouth. Curls at the ends of the mustache cannot be closed. Styling products such as gels, pomades, wax, etc. are prohibited. Soul patches, goatees or full beards are prohibited in this category. Sideburns are permitted but cannot overshadow the moustache in size or complexity.

Styled Mustache

The styled mustache is facial hair that rests on the upper lip but does not grow more than 1.5 cm past the ends of the upper lip. The length of the mustache CAN span past the ends of the wearer’s mouth however. Styling products such as gels, pomades, wax, etc. are encouraged! Soul patches, goatees or full beards are prohibited in this category. Hair extensions, false facial hair, or any form of hairpins are prohibited also. Sideburns are permitted but cannot overshadow the mustache in size or complexity.

Goatee

The goatee appears as it grows naturally. The more natural the better! The goatee and mustache may be maintained but without any styling aids.* The mustache may not be curled. An area at least 4 cm wide (the width of a razor blade) between the temple and the goatee must be clean shaven.

Whaler

A natural partial beard extending from ear to ear in an unbroken line, with no mustache. Also known as the Donegal. No styling aids permitted

Chops

A true sideburn, no natural or shaven gap below the ear. Chin is shaven, however, hair on the upper lip is optional. No styling aids are permitted.

Partial Beard Freestyle

Facial hair that is anything but connected – with a twist! The lack of connection can either be due to shaving or lack of follicle prowess. All partial beards that do not qualify for other categories may compete in this category. There must be a clean shaven space at least 4 cm wide (the width of a typical razor) either on the cheek or the chin. Styling products such as gels, pomades, wax, etc. ARE permitted. Any or all aspects of the partial beard may be styled. Any partial beard that does NOT fit the criteria for Whaler, Chops or Goatee will be placed in this category.

Full Beard Freestyle

A full beard with all areas grown in and styled any way the wearer chooses. Products that can be used (but not limited to) are gels, pomades, wax, hairspray, etc. Items that hold the hair in place are prohibited. Keywords: GO CRAZY!

Full Beard Natural with Styled Mustache

The mustache is the prominent feature here and consisting of hairs growing from within 1.5 cm past the end of the upper lip. Styling aids (in the mustache only) are permitted. The beard should be as it grows naturally, the more natural, the better. Styling aids in the beard are prohibited.

Full Beard Natural Under 4”

A full beard with all areas grown in that has either been trimmed or grown natural however it must be under 4 inches in length measured from right under the bottom lip. A styled mustache is permitted but will not be a deciding factor for judging.

Full Beard Natural Under 8”

A full beard with all areas grown in and without trimming or shaving to create shape. The length of the beard must be between 4 and 8 inches measured from right under the bottom lip.

Full Beard Natural Under 12”

A full beard with all areas grown in and without trimming or shaving to create shape. The length of the beard must be between 8 and 12 inches measured from right under the bottom lip.

Full Beard Natural Over 12”

A full beard with all areas grown in and without trimming or shaving to create shape. The length of the beard must be longer than 12 inches measured from right under the bottom lip.
