We will power up the Major Welch, gather at the top of MW, and descend on the AT (white) > 1777 (77) > SBM (yellow) . Option of 4 mile bailout by taking the classic Monday route back to the parking lot however you may be on your own if the other hikers continue on the longer route.

We will meet in the main parking lot. If you are running late, you are welcome to catch up with the group if we have begun. You may also begin early if you would like extra time.

This is NOT a beginner hike. It is a moderate to fast steady pace. You should have some hiking experience, be getting regular exercise and all attending should be prepared for a self-guided hike. There is significant elevation gain on the Major Welch. If this is your first time on a Monday night Bear Mt hike please reach out to me via PM prior to the event.

Make sure you have a copy of the map, a headlamp, and minimum 2 liter of water. If you fall behind during the hike, you must be prepared to finish on your own. Faster hikers are not obligated to wait for slower hikers. Typically we meet at the parking lot and begin together. As we ascend, the group breaks off. We will do our best to reconvene at the peak and begin our descent together. You must feel comfortable hiking out on your own should you fall behind. We would love to have everyone join but due the nature of an evening event we can not make accommodations for those who are unable to hike independently. There is no sweep.

If you are unsure whether or not this is for you, please message me with any questions.

T-Storms Cancel. Heavy rain cancels or may modify the route. This would be determined that day if necessary.

Distance: about 6.5 miles

EG: about 1500

Hike time: 2.5 hours
