Join two-time Emmy Award winning presenter Sherri Jackson, who will be asking a local audience and a panel of speakers about the role of black churches in America’s new civil rights movements.

The BBC World Service Heart and Soul Gathering radio programme will record the discussion at the 16th Street Baptist Church. Sherri is joined by the next generation of activists and by those who were part of the original civil rights movement and asking who is taking forward the Cause, and the Christianity of Dr King.

Speakers include Rev Dr Bernard Lafayette, authority on nonviolent social change, Rev. Arthur Price Pastor at 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham AL, Tef Poe, musician and activist, Laveeda Morgan Battle of St Paul UMC, Rev. Eva Melton, activist and minister, Justin Smith, activist and student.

1. Come early! Tickets are free and admission is on a first-come-first-served basis, so we can't guarantee that you'll get in.
