Come learn how to use one of the fastest and most useful modern prototyping tools, the laser cutter. This one hour introductory workshop will show you how to use our Epilog Fusion 60W laser cutter to quickly make projects out of cardboard, acrylic, wood, and various other approved materials. No prior knowledge or experience needed.
This workshop will cover basic equipment operations, safety procedures, material selection, and interfacing with Adobe Illustrator to execute jobs. Participants will get to practice the entire workflow and discuss capabilities and limitations of the machine. Basic navigation and generation of simple objects in Adobe Illustrator will be demonstrated in addition to the workflow of adjusting laser settings according to the job type and material.
Please note this workshop will NOT go into depth on how to use the Adobe Illustrator or related design software.

1. What is student pricing?
Any student currently enrolled in an Inwork course is eligible to participate in workshops for free. Inworks students should choose "Inworks Student" from the ticket options.
Students, researchers, and educators from any institution are offered our workshops at a highly subsidized rate. This includes any students not currently enrolled in Inworks courses. Please select "Student/Researchers/Educators" ticket and status will be confirmed at the event. Please be sure to bring a valid ID from your institution.
Everyone else - from startups to hobbyists - please select "Community".
2. Are there any clothing/safety requirements?
Closed-toe shoes must be worn and long hair must be pulled back.
3. When does registration close?
Registration will close when the event has reached capacity or at the start of the event. If less than 3 people have registered 24 hours prior to the event, the event is subject to cancellation and a full refund will be issued.
4. Is there a minimum age requirement?
Minors must be pre-approved and have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Anyone under 16 must have a parent or guardian present.
