The Bahrenburgs are an amazing family that we have gotten to know through the local junior hockey program. Nathan and Gina have 2 children, James (9) and Hazel (4). In getting to know this family, we learned that the last couple of years had been strenuous, as beautiful Gina was diagnosed with glioblastoma (a malignant brain tumor), in 2017. Her initial surgery dramatically limited her mobility and strength, something she is working diligently to regain, with courage and determination. Our hockey family watches her husband, Nathan, pushing a wheelchair, while balancing Hazel on his shoulders, and tending to Gina; with nothing but a smile. To see him take care of his family feels like watching the work of a living saint. The family is always smiling, and is so grateful for everything they have. They are amazing people, and we feel so lucky to have these friends in our lives.

On Christmas Day, they were thrown another curve ball. Their 4 year old daughter, Hazel, was diagnosed with Leukemia. She immediately began receiving chemotherapy at a children's hospital in Vermont, where Nathan's family lives. She was released to go back home at the end of January and will continue her treatment at Valley Children's hospital.

In the midst of everything going on with Hazel, Gina had to rush home for her own follow up appointment. The doctors saw what they believed to be more cancer. She was rushed into surgery the next morning in San Francisco. The Bahrehburgs were separated for weeks with Gina and Hazel under hospital care and recovering.

The Bahrenburgs are living the unimaginable, and navigating it with admirable grace. They will be fighting a fierce journey in the next couple years, battling cancer for two family members. They have huge medical bills and more to come. Our hockey family wanted to help! We thought the best way was a party! A fantastic party, full of smiles and hope. The hope, smiles, grace and strength they handle themselves with daily. We have hired the KILLER DUELING PIANOS and Pardinis to cater a sit down dinner, dancing, and cocktails.
