Acupuncture is often touted as an excellent treatment for stress, and stress-related symptoms, but that efficacy goes beyond simply giving our patients time to relax. As acupuncturists we are trained to view multiple symptoms and mixed presentations as pieces of a puzzle, though it can be difficult articulating what may be going on to a Western-minded patient. One explanation for seemingly disperate complaints affecting multiple organ systems is the autonomic nervous system, which controls all involuntary body functions. By resetting this system, overtime many strange presentations may return to normal.

In this one day seminar, Kiiko Matsumoto will teach a small group of students about signs and symptoms of an autonomic nervous system imbalance, including the Western definition of sympathetic and parasympathetic states. She will share her clinical findings for common abdominal patterns associated with these imbalances, key symptoms and their indications, and effective root and adjunct treatments to effect change. She will discuss the difference in treating a parasympathetic and sympathetic state, and why it is important to ensure that any autonomic nervous system imbalance is addressed before more specific symptoms will change. Digestion, skin, the immune system, and aches and pains can all be addressed through these simple, but effective treatments, because of the systemic nature of these imbalances.

How long will Early Bird tickets be available?

You will have access to Early Bird pricing through January 15, 2019

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Kiiko's office is accessible via the Green Line D train (Newton Highlands stop), bus (59) and car. On Sunday there is unlimited street parking. For Saturday, parking on Walnut street is 2 hours only. For those who do not wish to have to move their car, we will send out recommended alternative parking options closer to the event.

What can I bring into the event?

We recommend bringing a clipboard, or other stiff material to lean on for taking notes. We will provide tea, coffee, and light refreshments. There will be a one hour break for lunch- you may bring your own or we will make recommendations for eating out within short walking distance.

What's the refund policy?

Tickets are fully refundable up until the end of the day March 1, 2018. After March 1, we will not be able to refund your ticket, but you may transfer your ticket to another participant, just let us know that there has been a change. Because the purchase of your ticket reserves a space in the current class, we cannot transfer your ticket to a future class.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, but we will be taking attendance at the door and you must have registered ahead of time to be able to attend the class.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes but please do so by March 1st so we can prepare the correct certificate for you.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes, but please let us know so we prepare the correct certificate.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, but please let us know via a direct email so that we prepare the correct certificate.

Is there a difference between the Saturday and Sunday class?

Not really. Both courses will cover the same general material. We have a limited amount of space, and choose to offer the class twice in order to accomidate more people. That said, the demonstrations and questions students ask may vary some of the material covered. Some students choose to attend both classes, however only 7.5 total CEUs can be earned, and we cannot offer you a discount for attending multiple dates.

I'm registered for the Sunday class but I would rather attend on Saturday (or vice versa)

Once you are registered for the class, so long as there is room on the second date we can transfer your ticket. Please email us directly. You may also cancel your registration and re-register for your preferred class via Eventbrite. If the class on the day you would prefer to attend is sold out, we won't be able to squeeze you in. For this reason, we recommend that you figure out the better day for you before February 1st.

Is there a waitlist?

Yes. You may add your name to the waitlist via Eventbrite, just try to register for the class as usual. If a ticket becomes available, you will be contacted by Eventbrite directly and have 24 hours to claim your ticket.
