King County Diversion Coaches will facilitate a peer-led, two-day training on the fundamentals, skills, and techniques of the Diversion approach. King County has committed to fundamentally reorienting the region's response system to lead with Diversion (in order to scale at the front door of service for folks experiencing homelessness)--greatly increasing our ability to shorten the length of time families and individuals experience homelessness and reduce the harm and trauma associated with homelessness. Details: Two-day diversion training (You are required to attend both days in order to receive certification and/or credits and access the King County Centralized Diversion Fund*) for service providers, front-line, and direct service folks. We encourage you to have been trained in Motivational Interviewing and/or Trauma-Informed Care prior to this training. Date: August 27 & 28 Time: 9:00am to 5:00pm (both days)Where: The 2100 Building (2100 24th Ave S, Seattle, WA)Coffee and lunch will be provided. Diversion Model: Diversion is an approach that assists households in quickly securing temporary or permanent solutions to homelessness outside of the homeless system by supporting creative and cost-effective solutions to meet individual needs. Diversion is a short term intervention that supports households in identifying immediate, safe housing arrangements, often utilizing conflict resolution and mediation skills to reconnect people to their support systems. Diversion offers flexible, light-touch services that may be coupled with minimal financial assistance that results in a temporary or permanent housing arrangement outside of the homeless system. *The Centralized Fund has been a well utilized resource since it began in December 2018—to date, more than 300 households have used the fund to end their experience of homelessness. We expect that current funding will be spent by the end of July 2019. While you may continue to access the fund until it is fully depleted, we wanted the community to have clear expectations of the limits of its availability. The impact of this new and unrestricted resource has been felt throughout King County. We are exploring opportunities to sustain the fund and will communicate if new funding becomes available.  For questions or concerns, email Zachary DeWolf at All Home All Home believes in the importance of making high quality, relevant trainings available to local providers serving people experiencing homelessness. All Home is charging a refundable deposit of $18 for people at time of registration. These funds will be refunded to attendees of the training within 2 business days after the event. If you do not attend the event, the funds will not be refunded. Cancellations: Refunds will be made for cancellations at least 2 business days in advance of the event. Refunds will not be made for cancellations with less than 2 business days’ notice. If the deposit is prohibitive of your attendance, please contact Zachary DeWolf at All Home.
