Aug 7-14: Weeklong Backpack the Appalachian Trail in New Hampshire! Weeklong backpacking trip in New Hampshire. Strenuous backpacking. For experienced backpackers – this is not a beginner hike. We’ll have elevation gains/losses of 1,500 – 3,500 each day. Draft Itinerary (hiking South-North)
• Aug 7: Start off in Glencliff, hike 1.1 miles and stay at Jeffers Brook Shelter (1.1 mile)
• Aug 8: Hike up Mt Moosilauke (+3500 ft) and then stay at Beaver Brook Shelter (6.9 miles total)
• Aug 9: Hike up Mt. Wolf (+1500 ft) and then stay at Eliza Brook Shelter (9.0 miles total)
• Aug 10: Big Day! Hike up North Kinsman Mtn (+2000 ft), then to Lonesome Lake Hut, Rt 3 for Resupply and then up Francoia Ridge (2000 ft) to Liberty Spring Tentsite (11.4 miles total)
• Aug 11: Easier Day. Hike from Liberty Spring Tentsite up Mt. Lafayete (+ 1500) to Garfield Ridge Campsite (7.5 miles total)
• Aug 12: Easy Day. Hike up South Twin Mtn (+1000) to Guyot Campsite & Shelter (5.5 miles total)
• Aug 13: Hike Down Zeeland Ridge and across level ground to Ethan Pond Campsite (9 miles total)
• Aug 14: Hike down to Us 302/Crawford Notch to head home (2.9 miles total)

Should be an interesting hike! Please note that we will be staying at tenting site (to avoid the high cost of the huts) but we will be passing AMC huts on Aug 10, Aug 12 and Aug 13. The huts typically have stores, water and places to relax. Limit of 15 people on the trip. Hike Leader is Kevin Drevik (856)[masked] or [masked].

Based on the past few trips (a lot of folks signed up and then cancelled, some at last minute, and kept others from going on the trip) Kevin reserves the right to move people off the trip who have backed out previously, in order to allow folks with a demonstrated interest in the trip to attend.

As a reminder, as of board vote in 2020, for any backpacking trip longer than one overnight, you have to be a member. Cost is $20/year for individual, $25 for family. Go to OCSJ.Org to sign up. I can’t allow you to go if you aren’t a member.
