Orchestra Miami presents Atonement, by Marvin David Levy.
Marvin David Levy was one of the United States' most important composers of the 20th and 21rst centuries. Best known for his opera Mourning Becomes Electra (most recently heard at FGO) he was a multifaceted composer of music for all genres.
Atonement is a Cantata in three movements for chorus, orchestra, narrator, soprano and tenor soloists. Each of the three movements deal with a terrible yet seminal moment in the history of the Jewish people- the Holocaust, the Inquisition and the Masada.
Come listen as Orchestra Miami, conducted by Elaine Rinaldi, performs this dramatically beautiful and unforgettable music with two spectacular, world-class soloists, Michael Hendrick, tenor and Miami favorite Elizabeth Caballero, soprano.
This concert is a part of Orchestra Miami's "Discover Miami Through Music" seies. Also on the program is the Overture to Candide" by Leonard Bernstein.
