The Art of Shibori Silk Dyeing

The Shibori technique is used to create texture and a variety of colors on fabric by manipulating the fabric before dyeing. In this 2-day workshop, using silk fabric, you will learn the pole wrap and rope wrap dyeing techniques. The fee includes materials for two silk scarves. At the Fine Arts Institute, we open the doors of UK'S School of Art and Visual Studies to our local artistic community as a place to learn new or expand on existing creative skills. We offer adults 18 years and over a variety of non-credit community education courses and workshops. Our goal is to provide community learning opportunities that utilize the university’s state-of-the-art facilities. From woodworking, metalworking, ceramics, textiles, digital art, floral design, black and white photography and more, the FAI wants you to push your creative boundaries in our creative setting.
