Art of the Recital - Masterpieces of the Violin Repertoire
From the most passionate and expressive sonatas, to dazzlingly virtuosic showpieces, to intimate and lyrical salon pieces written for simple pleasure – "The Art of the Recital" concert series presents a wide range of experiences to audiences, all celebrating the wide artistic potential of the violin.
The monumental Strauss Sonata is the featured work on this ambitious program. Considered one of most technically demanding pieces ever written, it is also powerful artistic work - from youthful optimism to overpowering waves of passion, the sonata takes performer and audience alike on a dazziling journey!
Arvo Paert's "Fratres," opening the program, is a unique, contemporary work. Audiences who do not know Paert's writing may discover a new favorite. "Fratres" is perfect for a live recital experience, as it showcases the huge range of sounds and sound colors possible with a violin and piano.
