Want to help tip the gender imbalance on @Wikipedia?

Join the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden and Smithsonian Libraries for the first ever Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon in honor of Women's History Month. Help us improve representation of female and female-identifying performance and new media artists on Wikipedia. Anyone and everyone interested in learning how to edit Wikipedia, regardless of experience, gender, or background, is welcome to attend. Please bring a laptop and charging cord.

ARTLAB is located in the Hirshhorn’s Sculpture Garden across Jefferson Avenue.

About the Art + Feminism DC2020

Art + Feminism is a global, non-profit effort to address the inequality of gender, feminism, and the arts on Wikipedia. The Hirshhorn’s event is held in coordination with Wikipedia Edit-a-thons at cultural institutions across the city to commemorate the adoption of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920, which granted women the right to vote.

About Art + Feminism

Art + Feminism is a global, non-profit effort to address the documented inequality of gender, feminism, and the arts on Wikipedia. Wikipedia’s gender trouble is a problem, because when women, non-binary, people of color, and Indigenous communities are not represented in the writing and editing on the tenth most visited site in the world, information about us gets skewed and misrepresented. The stories get mistold. We lose out on the real history. Let’s change that! At Art + Feminism edit-a-thons, people learn to edit, update, and add articles to Wikipedia. Anyone and everyone interested in learning more about editing Wikipedia, regardless of experience, gender, or background, is welcome to attend. Since 2014, over 14,000 people at more than 1,100 events around the world have participated in Art + Feminism edit-a-thons, resulting in the creation and improvement of more than 58,000 articles on Wikipedia.
