In follow-up to priorities identified during the Arizona Refugee Resettlement Summit in August of 2018, RRP seeks to convene diverse stakeholders to learn about the historical, legal and social implications of meaningful access to services for individuals with limited English proficiency.
Through panel presentations, sharing of promising practices, and discussions about the scope of meaningful access, RRP hopes to collectively explore the Civil Rights Act of 1964’s assertion that “no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
Beyond addressing basic access to linguistic supports, RRP seeks to create a space for learning to encourage active participation in efforts to expand equity and inclusion.
This event will take place from 8 AM to 5 PM on August 13 and 8 AM to Noon on August 14. Registration for this event will end on July 30.
There is no cost associated with this event and we will not be hosting exhibitor tables. There will be a resource table for organizations interested in providing information about their services.
