Program: Canister and Grape: Artillery related artifacts from the San Jacinto Battleground
Speaker: Dr. Douglas Mangum
Dr. Douglas Mangum, Principal Investigator with Moore Archeological Consulting, Inc. will speak on artifacts from the San Jacinto Battleground. Over the last decade, there has been numerous archeological investigations in and around the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site. His company has recovered more than 1400 artifacts associated with the battle. Analysis of these artifacts and their distribution have suggested answers to some questions regarding The Battle. Dr. Mangum will address one of the major questions that has been answered, as well as discuss how this information was integrated into a chapter in the book The Archeology of Engagement: Conflict and Revolutions in the United States, which was recently published by Texas A&M University Press. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about one of most famous battle sites in America!

Come hear this talk and learn new details about the historic Battle of San Jacinto!
