This course prepares the learner for the Case Mix RUG-IV 48 reimbursement systemimplemented on July 1, 2020 in Connecticut. Facility level knowledge in MDS Coding and overall Systems Refinement will be critical for accuracy and appropriate payment levels. Components to be discussed include Case Mix Theory, documentationand MDS scheduling, timingand Assessment Reference Date. This session takes the learner on a deeper dive into Case Mix RUG-IV Grouper Elements including End Splits: ADL, Depression, Restorative Nursing as well asNursing qualifiers and Therapy’s role.
Restorative Nursingimpacts the Case Mix reimbursement system, as well as, Medicare Part Bprogramming and Quality Measure as facilities transition to Case Mix System Implementation. This course focuses on key concepts for development of successful Restorative Nursing Programs. Components include patient identification, initiation of planned programs and goal setting. Nursing and Therapy perspectives are both addressed. Quality Measures (QMs) are tools that assist in measuring or quantifying healthcare processes, outcomes and organizational structure. This program addresses Quality Measures strategies to positively impact Case Mix. This course will provide a deep dive into each of the Quality Measures and their uses. Key strategies to obtain accurate and appropriate quality measure scores will be addressed. This course will also assist the attendee to identify and mitigate potential issues specific to the MDS coding that impact the QMs.
