ome on out to the exciting weekly prayer meetings that take place before Sunday service each week! They are run by Nancy Harden, who has been training Prayer Warriors for decades. Yes! Prayer Warriors! In just a one-hour weekly meeting, you will learn how to prepare yourself spiritually so that you can pray the way God intended, and you will also be able to enjoy the practice of praying with a warm, supportive group on a regular basis.   Miss Nancy and her Warriors meet each Sunday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., giving the group ample time to learn, practice and experience fellowship before the 10:00 a.m. Sunday service. This allows members to greet and get to know their fellow Warriors in prayer while simultaneously preparing them spiritually to take in the Word of God.    Intercessory Prayer Practice  Praying for each other is a big part of what we do during our weekly meetings. Prayer is such a powerful thing to do for one another that we really need to make it a priority in our lives. We pray for our brothers and sisters at Taylor who are going through a hard time – who are on the threshing floor, as Pastor Anthony preached on Communion Sunday – and we also pray for the leaders of our church, our community and our country, that God may guide them, and they may be able to hear His still, small voice in their ears wherever they happen to be.  During our meetings, Miss Nancy refers to several important verses in the Bible that explain why prayer is so important, and also explains the types of prayers to use during different times and needs. However, what we do here at Taylor is anchored in three important chapters. We call them the three 9’s: Ezra 9, Nehemiah 9, and Daniel 9.   Preparing to Pray  Prior to July 2018, we did a series on preparation for having an intercessory prayer practice. We have to prepare ourselves spiritually so that we may be the proper vessel for doing God’s work in this way. We have to make sure that we are spiritually clean, by approaching God and asking His forgiveness for not already having this in our lives. Then, we must acknowledge where in our lives we bear any grudges or harbor ill feelings toward anyone and pray to God to forgive us for that. Once we are clean vessels, we may then begin to pray for others.   In July 2018, we started the exciting second part of our Anchor of Prayer meetings: The Heart, Mouth, Humility Connection. We have to always be aware that what comes out of our mouths – every single word we utter or even think – has the power to do damage or do good. We’re doing somebody’s work every time we say something, so we must always make sure that it’s God’s work that we are doing. What’s in our heart will be in our mind and will eventually, be spoken through our lips. If we make sure that our heart is where it needs to be, and if we practice humility, then we will be in a good place to do God’s amazing work.   Come on out this Sunday morning and join Miss Nancy and her Prayer Warriors at the Taylor Church Conference Room.   We’ll be expecting you!
