Calling all #OLDSCHOOLMTG and #PREMODERNMTG players across the USA and
around the world! Join US for our big event for spring 2020 -- our
second annual regional Old SCHOOL "FESTIVAL" in Greater HARTFORD,
organized by your friends at New England Old School
[https://www.facebook.com/groups/1714693515472129/] and co-hosted by
Diamonds Mined [http://www.diamondsmined.com/]. This will be a
charity tournament to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford
[https://bgchartford.org/].Tournament start time 11:30am sharp, DOORS
OPEN AT 11:00AM to register, get situated, sign prizes, etc.
Registrants will participate in their choice of one of our two
parallel main events:
PREMODERN MAIN EVENT: The inaugural American Championships
for PREMODERN [https://premodernmagic.com/]. Swiss pairings (five or
six rounds depending on field size), followed by a cut to Top 4. All
legal reprints and pre-prints are allowed per the recommended rules
for Premodern, although Premodern-era printings are of course
encouraged. Additionally, we will be allowing CE/IE and World
Championship printings of Premodern legal cards. No proxies or
'playtest cards' will be permitted.
93/94 MAIN EVENT: ATLANTIC RULES 93/94
[https://sentineloldschoolmtg.wordpress.com/atlantic-93-94/], seven
rounds of Swiss pairings (either straight Swiss or Swiss+1 depending
on field size). Typical EC/American-style reprint rules apply (all
non-foil reprints with the original art and frame are permitted. This
means that Revised, 4th Edition, Chronicles, CE/IE, FBB, FWB are
completely welcome). No proxies or ‘playtest cards’ will be
permitted.
BREAK-OUT SIDE EVENTS: Beginning at around 5pm, we will fire an
optional 93/94 side event, using the Swedish B&R plus the '_SCRYINGS_
[https://oldschool-mtg.blogspot.com/p/scryings.html]' player-created
expansion. Again, typical EC/American-style reprint rules apply.
Depending on player demand, we may also fire "second chance" side
events for both Atlantic 93/94 and Premodern in the same time frame.
PRE-REGISTRATION: Pre-registration is required for this event, which
includes entry in one "main event" of the player's choice. This choice
is _non-binding_ at the time of pre-registration; players can change
their chosen main event at any time prior to March 28 by contacting
the organizers. Side event registration is free and optional, and will
be handled on-site on the day of the event.
ENTRY / PRIZES: An entry fee of $30 will be used to cover venue
reservation costs and unique Old School + Premodern prizes and
give-aways. Any funds remaining after expenses will be donated to Boys
& Girls Clubs of Hartford, our charity partner for this event. The
entry fee is non-refundable.
THE VENUE: The event will once again be held at the Elks Lodge in
Manchester, CT. We will have a dedicated bartender for the duration of
the event, with a cash bar including a variety of both alcoholic and
non-alcoholic drinks and water. Absolutely no drinks of any kind will
be permitted to be brought in from outside the venue.
DECK REGISTRATION: _For the 93/94 main event_, deck photos (not text
lists) will be required, submitted before the tournament start time to
the organizers. We will specify the means of uploading the photo to
share the week prior to the event. _For the Premodern main event_,
there will be written deck registration on the morning of the event.
Premodern players wishing to submit a photo of their deck for event
coverage are encouraged to do so.
