6-Week Hoola-Fit Class Series
Hoop dance is a great way to get fit while having fun! According to the American Council on Excercise, Hoola-Fit participants burn an average of 420 calories an hour hooping! Fitness experts also agree that people are more likely to stick with their exercise routine when they enjoy the activity. And hooping is the ULTIMATE form of FUN FITNESS.
Join Hoola Monsters and Hoola-Fit creator, Abby Lee, every Tuesday (starting 1/8) from 10:30-11:30 a.m. We are so excited to return to Sunken Gardens, and our 6-Week Beginner Hoola-Fit Class Series will meet in the Oak Pavillion.
This 6-week hoop dance intensive will incorporate mindful movement with creative dance expression, using handmade, professional quality dance hoops. We'll set you up for success with a hoop that's custom fitted for your height and body type. You'll have a chance to learn foundational moves while building and deepening your practice in a safe, comfortable and supportive environment. The same group will meet each week, allowing participants to progress together, at the same pace. No experience necessary and Sunken Gardens admission is included with each class.
Pre-registration is required. Please come prepared in comfortable workout clothes and bring a water bottle. Hoops will be provided for use during class, and every registered participant will also receive a 20% discount on Hoola Monsters hoops.
What you'll learn:
- Waist hooping and recoveries
- How to maintain rotation on the waist while dancing
- Foundational off-body moves such as hand hooping, figure 8 and isolations
- Basic transitions to promote flow
- Lifts and carries
- Shoulder hooping and leg hooping
- Body passes and tosses
