6 Hour LPC Supervisor Refresher Course

What will this include?

Ethical, legal, and professional issues

Participants will be able to:

1. Identify ethically sound roles of supervision

2. Understand the need for personal professional competence in the area in which supervision is being provided

3. Delineate administrative supervision responsibilities from clinical supervision responsibilities

4. Identify the authorized counseling methods and practices included in the scope of practice

5. Describe the requirements of the internship experience as detailed within the Texas LPC Rules

6. Describe the requirements for supervisors as detailed within the Texas LPC Rules and other codes of ethics and standards of practice

7. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the ACA Code of Ethics

8. Identify other codes of ethics that may apply to the supervisory relationship

9. Identify the best standards of practice in supervision related to §681.93 of this title (relating to ethics including chapter 611 of the Texas Health and Safety Code)

10. Analyze legal and ethical dilemmas utilizing a model for ethical decision making

11. Develop solutions to legal and ethical dilemmas.

- Understand the other rules and codes involved when supervising school counselors

- Understand triadic supervision

- Describe supervision and the ethical use of technology- including telehealth across state lines!

This will satisfy your supervision requirement

§681.141 states (1) at least four hours of continuing education in ethics, two of which must be directly related to Texas LPC ethics, each renewal period; and

(2) successfully the jurisprudence exam each renewal period. Completion of the jurisprudence examination will count as one hour of continuing education in Texas LPC ethics.

(d) A licensee holding the supervisor status must complete 6 hours of continuing education in supervision every 2 years.
