5th Annual Urban Kids Fishing Derby DC

Urban American Outdoors TV (UAOTV) along with partnering host, the US Forest Service, US Fish & Wildlife, NPS Healthy Parks Healthy People, and the Washington DC Buffalo Soldiers 9th&10th Horse Calvary Assoc. will host the 5th Annual Urban Kids Fishing Derby Washington DC. The fishing experience and celebration will be held on Saturday June 1, 2019 at the Constitution Gardens located at 1850 Constitution Ave. NW, 20024 within the National Mall. Registration and derby begins at 8:00 am and derby ends at 12 noon. This is a catch & release derby and it is free. It will officially kick off Free Fish weekend.Additional partners include The Wilderness Socity, I Am Entertainment and F.A.C.T.S. The Kids Derby is free for youngsters between the ages of 4 to 15, and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All registered participants may bring their own rod and reel, and bait. If you do not have your own fishing equipment loaners will be provided on site. The derby is limited to the first 250 kids.Urban American Outdoors has had over two decades of having outdoor conservation activities and initiatives such as our Urban Kids Fish program. Our goal over the next few years is to bring our outdoor programs and workshops to cities across the country, to engage our children in fun outdoor activities which are great for the entire family. Before each derby begins, we have a pre ceremony with special guests along with our host Wayne Hubbard to welcome and greet our young anglers and their families. As always our youth who have the winning catches will receive gifts and other outstanding prizes. For the biggest fish there will be a $100.00 prize. We will also have goodie bags. The entire derby will be filmed for an upcoming segment on Urban American Outdoors TV with host Wayne Hubbard. The award winning outdoors lifestyle program airs weekly on TV affiliates across the country. The show offers outdoor enthusiast’s a chance to view outdoors from a different perspective. Wayne Hubbard has for the past twenty years been sharing his outdoor adventures, conservation tips, green ideas, recipes, wildlife information and has mentored over 100,000 youth in the greater Kansas City area.
