5th Annual Holy Smokes! Kosher BBQ

The 5th Annual Holy Smokes! Kosher BBQ celebrates Levey Day School’s 66 years as a vital and vibrant institution in our community. Join us as we honor Debbie Kanter.  This true foodie event is Levey’s major fundraiser of the year, supporting Northern New England’s only Jewish day school. Guests enjoy live bluegrass music and kosher BBQ brisket slow-cooked in a custom-made kosher smoker supervised by celebrity chefs. The meal also features chicken and vegetarian entrées, all-vegetarian sides, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Guests have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items; past items have included Disney and sporting event tickets, summer guest house get-aways, restaurant and catering gift certificates, artwork, and jewelry. Throughout her 24 years on Levey’s faculty, Debbie Kanter has proven the wisdom of the statement that “all I really need to know, I learned in kindergarten.” Her classroom is all about kindness, creativity, respect, friendship, and a positive Judaic and secular learning environment. Beyond Levey, Debbie has made a lasting impact at the Atrium at Cedars and at Temple Beth El, where she teaches Hebrew School and participates in the Ritual Committee and Sisterhood.
