The Wilmington branch of the American Association of University Women soon hosts its 51st annual sale of gently used books. The Dollars for Scholars Used Book Sale, to benefit college scholarships for Delaware women, runs Friday-Sunday, Feb. 28-March 1, 2020, at Concord Mall, 4737 Concord Pike, Brandywine Hundred, DE 19803.
Most items are $1 to $5, with collectibles up to $100. Items are sorted into more than 50 categories on tables throughout the mall. The sale also includes audio books, DVDs, CDs, sheet music, puzzles, and ephemera. This year’s sale features a large number of books related to Delaware, books related to George Washington, gardening books and art books, thanks to donations from the estates and collections of several local book lovers.
The sale runs 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28-29, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 1. Bad weather may curtail sale hours. All day Saturday, Feb. 29, children’s books are half price. Starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, most items are half price. On Sunday, March 1, people can buy a bag for $10 and fill it (certain categories excluded).
