Following Maine CDC’s recommendation, we have decided to postpone this year’s Symposium. Updated details will be posted as soon as they are available.

Join us for the 47th Albert Reed and Thelma Walker Maritime Symposium examining Maine leadership on Saturday April 4, 2020. As part of the state’s bicentennial celebrations, this year’s Symposium will feature scholars from a wide range of disciplines to examine what leadership means in the context of maritime Maine. This interdisciplinary program will touch on abolitionists, the Civil War, the slave trade, 20th century medicine, steamships, the Navy, the War of 1812, and Maine’s lobster fishery.

Advance registration is required, tickets will not be available at the door. An optional boxed lunch can be ordered during registration; attendees are also free to go off-site to enjoy Bath’s restaurants for lunch. Boxed lunches must be ordered in advance.
