3rd ANNUAL HOT SUMMER GAYS: Madison’s queer music series presented by Saint Saunter and Dyke Dive.

SAINT SAUNTER presents Hot Summer Gays, during Madison’s Pride Weekend 2019 featuring God-des of God-des and She, DJ Keezy (Minneapolis), Dequadray (Madison), and KIlo aka Skitl’z (Madison). Saint Saunter has been a fixture in the Madison queer music and arts scene from her work with queer arts initiatives, ICQ.IRL (intentional community for queers, in real life), Dyke Dive, Half Stack Sessions, Queer Pressure, Emo Night Madison, She Said Party, and more. Not just a DJ, she plays a significant role in creating spaces for the queer community.

GOD-DES is an accomplished producer, writer, emcee and musician. She first made her mark nationally and internationally in the hip hop/soul duo God-Des and She. The two received major notoriety when they appeared on the season 3 finale of Showtime’s hit series The L Word.  God-Des and She continued to draw wide attention by releasing four successful albums, performing all over the United States and Europe, and inspiring millions of fans.

DJ KEEZY, born  and raised in Minneapolis, has been making waves in the Twin Cites for four years now. Through her years of DJ’ing and realizing that women are consistently being underestimated in their own talents and abilities, Keezy has a commitment to using her gift to highlight other artists. She is the founder of one of the first all female identified line-up dance parties to hit First Avenue’s Mainroom. She has won Twin Cities Best Club DJ of 2017. In addition, she is a curator of many other dance nights within the Twin Cities. Keezy has also had the opportunity to open for established acts like Kehlani, Big Freedia, The Internet, Cupcakke, Trina & Da Brat. Including being on worlds biggest one day hip-hop festival SoundSet. Her style is heavily influenced by hip-hop, jazz and rap. Her signature sound consists of spinning throwbacks and the hottest new remixes.

DEQUADRAY WHITE, who performs under his first name, immersed himself in visual art, theater, and poetry while growing up in south of Atlanta. During middle and high school he began to experiment with music, inspired in part by his brother, who collaborated with Gucci Mane under his MC name Jig Lo Ski. In the ensuing years, White has come to Madison to study in UW-Madison’s First Wave arts program and gradually figured out that he doesn’t want to choose one medium over another, and doesn’t have to. Dequadray released his debut album, “Dequadray: A Black Sitcom
in 2018. As the title implies, he approaches music with a conceptual and narrative bent that clearly has something to do with his theater background, but more importantly, Dequadray is at once playful and emotionally frank across the album’s 10 varied tracks of hip-hop and R&B.

KILO AKA SKITL’Z is a hip-hop artist originally from Evanston, Illinois who was raised in Chicago. As a black woman in the gay community, her past has helped shape her. Kilo fell in love with R&B and Soul at a young age and found hip-hop through Kriss Kross, Mc Lyte, Lauryn Hill, Eve, and Queen Latifah. She began making her own music in 2010 and has been featured on tracks with 1neofmani of BloodLine, eventually becoming BloodLine’s “1st Lady.” She has made waves in Madison’s
hip-hop scene and won Female Artist of the Year at the Madison Hip-Hop Music Awards.
