The 23rd Annual Foley Gardere MLK Jr. Oratory Competition will take place at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Christ in Houston on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019. Presented, hosted and sponsored by Foley Gardere, the event invites local students from 23 Houston ISD elementary schools to present original three-to-five minute speeches addressing the topic: “What would Dr. King say to the children of today’s world?” The event is free to attend and open to the public.
In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy, the competition is designed to highlight the cultural diversity of the community while recognizing and encouraging the writing and public speaking skills of elementary school students. Students are judged on their delivery, stage presence and decorum, content interpretation and memorization.
