The NY Drinks NY Grand Tasting is the largest meeting place for members of the wine trade and media looking to discover the diverse selection of wines produced across New York State. Come taste the wines that have put New York on the map as the 3rd largest producer of wines in the U.S. The event will feature more than 200 library and current vintage wines from 50 different producers from across the state. Network with industry peers and winemakers as you learn about winemaking styles and techniques used to produce everything from traditional method sparkling wines, to still wines from noble grapes like chardonnay, riesling, cabernet franc and pinot noir, and all that is new and exciting.

Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in masterclass-style seminars beginning at 11:30 AM. Seminars are free to attend and will be filled on a first come, first served basis on the day of the event. Pre-registration is not required. This year's seminars include:

LIBRARY RIESLINGS (moderated by Paul Grieco)

"Finger Lakes Riesling is certainly the finest in North America, and the top tier is world-class,” wrote Jason Wilson in his 2019 retrospect of Finger Lakes wines for Vinous.com. In this not-to-miss seminar, we’ll present rieslings from six different New York state wineries, each with a minimum of five years of bottle age.

Featured Wines:
  • Hermann J. Wiemer, 2014 Magdalena Vineyard Riesling
  • Lakewood Vineyards 2013 3Generations Riesling
  • Silver Thread Vineyard 2013 Estate Riesling
  • Atwater Estate Vineyards 2008 Riesling
  • Boundary Breaks 2013 Reserve Riesling “198”
  • Ryan William Vineyard 2010 Select Late Harvest Riesling

THE BURGUNDY GRAPES (moderated by sommelier Yannick Benjamin)

New York riesling and cabernet franc have fairly received their share of attention from both the trade and wine-drinking public. But ask a winemaker to show you their chardonnay or pinot noir and you’ll be met with a grin ear to ear. In this seminar, we’ll explore our own cool climate expressions of those grapes made so famous by our cool climate regional cousin of Burgundy, France: chardonnay, pinot and gamay noir.

 Featured Wines:

  • Whitecliff Vineyard “North River” Blanc de Blanc
  • Lamoreaux Landing 2014 Blanc de Blanc
  • Macari 2017 Estate Chardonnay
  • Element 2014 Pinot Noir
  • Dr. Konstantin Frank 2016 Old Vines Pinot Noir
  • Damiani 2016 Davis Vineyard Pinot Noir

  PLEASE NOTE:

  • ALL TRADE & MEDIA TICKET REQUESTS ARE SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION: The New York Wine & Grape Foundation may require a business card and/or additional information and reserves the right to void tickets to trade which cannot be verified.
  • NOTE: TRADE REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AFTER AT 5:00 PM on September 21st.  Members of the Trade who wish to attend are encouraged to bring their credentials and register at the door on September 22nd.

The event is part of NY Drinks NY, a promotion organized by the New York Wine & Grape Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation that promotes the wineries and grape-growers in the state.
